Kayaking in El Chalten

The experience begins at Comarka Rafting & Kayak’s operating base located at Av. San Martin 872, El Chalten, where guides will greet passengers and provide them with equipment (technical and safety) and a briefing on its use.

Once the equipment has been delivered and the group has changed, they will travel 21 km along Highway 41 towards Lago del Desierto. Once we arrive at the activity’s starting point (Laguna Condor Viewpoint), the group will disembark to finish putting on their gear (jacket, vest, and helmet). After the technical and safety briefing, they will begin the activity from the right bank of Laguna Condor.

This section of the river is characterized by being shallow and meandering, with wonderful views of Mount Fitz Roy and Cerro Eléctrico, among others.
We will travel approximately 12 km, which will take an hour and a half to two hours (depending on river flow and wind conditions). Halfway through the tour, we’ll stop for a country brunch and then continue to the landing area, Mirador del Fitz Roy (10 km from Chalten). Once there, the transfer will take us back to El Chalten at approximately 1:30/2:00 PM.

• Navigation Time: 1:30 to 2:00 hours depending on weather conditions and river flow.

• Arrival at Fitz Roy viewpoint and travel back to El Chalten (10 km).

• Bring towel; change of underwear or swimsuit; thermal shirt; sunglasses (with strap) and sunscreen.

Restrictions:

• Children under 12 years and + 65.
• Not suitable for pregnant women
• Not suitable for people who suffer from diseases that cause respiratory disabilities (COPD, asthma, emphysema, etc.).
• People who suffer from central or peripheral cardiovascular diseases, or when their cardiac or vascular capacities are diminished, use stents, pacemakers or other prostheses cannot participate; (for example: medicated with anticoagulants, grade III varicose veins – those that are thick and multiple, cardiac arrhythmias, etc.)
• Children must have sufficient psychophysical capacity to spend several hours doing physical activity.
• People with obesity will not be able to participate. In the case of adults, the World Health Organization (WHO) defines obesity as such when a person has a Body Mass Index (BMI) equal to or greater than 30. The BMI is calculated by dividing the weight of a person in kilos times the square of their height in meters: (kg/m2).
• Not suitable for people with any degree or type of physical or mental disability that affects their attention, gait and/or coordination.

– ANYONE WHO DELIBERATELY HIDES ANY OF THE ABOVE-MENTIONED CONDITIONS OR DISEASES AND/OR ANY OTHER RARE DISEASE THAT MAY AFFECT THEIR HEALTH, FOR THE SOLE PURPOSE OF ACCESSING THE TOURIST SERVICES OFFERED BY COMARKA EXPEDICIONES, WILL BE FULLY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CONSEQUENCES. THE OPERATING COMPANY, ITS EMPLOYEES, AND THOSE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CONTRACTED SERVICE WILL BE EXEMPT FROM LIABILITY.

– IF THE CLIENT HAS NOT MEET THE PHYSICAL FITNESS REQUIREMENTS, THE SERVICE MANAGER MAY, AT ITS SOLE DISCRETION, REJECT THE CLIENT’S PARTICIPATION AS A SAFETY MEASURE.

– IT IS EXPRESSLY DECLARED THAT, UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES, COMARKA EXPEDICIONES WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PROVISION OF HEALTH SERVICES OF ANY KIND, AND IS SOLELY OBLIGED TO PROVIDE FIRST AID SERVICES.

– IT IS ALSO OBLIGATED THAT THE CONTRACTED ACTIVITY INVOLVES A RISK IN ITSELF, AND THAT SUCH RISK IS ENTIRELY ASSUMED BY THE CLIENT OR THE CONTRACTING PARTY. THEREFORE, COMARKA EXPEDICIONES, ITS EMPLOYEES, AND OTHER CONTRACTED PERSONS WILL BE EXEMPT FROM LIABILITY.
